Friday 4th of February is Bed Appreciation Day!
Once a year the whole of the Nation, in fact the whole of the World is invited to take some time to fully appreciate what a warm and loving place their bed is. None of this answering the alarm clock, no rushing to beat the postman to the door, just a simple chance to stay in the warm and comfort below your duvet. I shall be, how about you?
What is it?
Bed Appreciation Day is a celebration of man's (or woman's) relationship with his nightly respite. Every morning people drag themselves out of bed unwillingly wishing for more time. And on weekends people don't take the time to appreciate the wonderfulness that is the matress and duvet combination, foolishly thinking there's more important things to do. Well now, for the first time there is a day with nothing more important that needs doing than appreciating the bed.
Then what?
Then nothing, there is no 'and' about it. There is no marketing potential. There's no chain, no curse, no karma, no Hallmark cards and no gifts. It's simply a day for you and your bed to get better aquianted.
What about in the afternoon?
When (if) you do finally need to extract yourself from the pit and wander downstairs, take the duvet with you and enjoy the rest of the day on the sofa in a warm simbiotic relationship.
This sounds like a stupid idea
Then don't do it, I'm not holding a gun to your head ordering you to jump off a cliff, (though the idea might have merits) I'm inviting you to stay in bed, what's wrong with that?.
What events are happening in my area
Hopefully nothing. Hopefully everybody in your area will take up the day and the entire world will be one huge ghost town
I can't get the time off work/school/prison
Then skive. Bunk off. Pull a sickie. Pretend to be dead. I don't really care, it's your bed you should be explaining this to.
I get up at 6am every day
What? You want a medal?
