The Big Book of Vague Roleplay : rules

RULES

The Life That Should Be A Game

Vague isn't just a group, or a game, or a bunch of people in the pub getting pissed and making fools of themselves. No, Vague is a way of life, it's a way of doing things, it's a way of playing 'the game'. Vinny, Our Mascot Vague is the time it's the place it's the motion, Vague is the way we are feeling. Doo-doo-do-do.

Right, well there's a few ways to look at this, so strap in, cos this is BBJ's short course in RPGaming.

Books are only of limited help. Gaming is about having fun, and if you and the people around you are having fun, then the job's done. However (in my own humble opinion) there's some things always to be aware of as a player, and as a character.

Characters

  1. Use a variety of horrendous accents.
  2. Everything, EVERYTHING, can be used as a weapon.
  3. Always keep your eyes, ears and nose open. and your trousers closed.
  4. Relish the botch. It is a wonderful thing.
  5. Kill every real or suspected villain.
  6. Even the floor. Everything can be a weapon.
  7. Gather and make large quantities of bombs.
  8. Destroy evidence.
  9. Run, always run, from anything, especially the law.
  10. Remember the spice of life is napalm.
  11. Even a sponge. Everything can be a weapon.
  12. Take some time and look at the clues. GM's are evil and like to rub it in your face.
  13. Kill the butler. He's evil.
  14. Bat, lighter, shotgun and shovel, that's all you'll ever need.
  15. Chloroform is a great comedic tool.
  16. Even an Elf. Well, maybe not always.

Players

  1. You're (usually) there as part of a team, when you start hogging the limelight or overtalking others, you're becoming a twat.
  2. At least try and play a character that has some redeeming features.
  3. Pick your Ads & Disads for roleplay effect, not for nice easy bonuses.
  4. Throw yourself into the game, make sure you have some impact on what happens.
  5. Play something different every now and then.
  6. Bribe the GM. It can NEVER hurt.

Alright, that's most of the bases covered as a player. If you ever think you're not doing too well, just have a look around and actually watch what other people are doing to help them along.
